Detective Maxine Walker has been on the run for three months. Her dogged pursuit of drug and weapons dealer Samuel Blackwater has gone terribly wrong, leaving Max's old friend Cara Beckett dead and Max accused of being the dirty cop who killed her. With no where else to turn, Max has ended up in Riverbend, New Brunswick with her old friend Sherri.Lucas MacAllister is still not willing to let the death of his partner go, even when his boss Joe Lassiter orders him to. Pretending to take some time off for a reflective fishing trip to Florida, Lucas follows a lead to New Brunswick - and right into the kitschy gift shop where Maxine Walker is hiding. Lucas is not convinced that Max is responsible for Cara's death, but he would like to ask her a few pointed questions about the night in Blackwater's warehouse when everything went so wrong. Unfortunately for Lucas, before he can ask Max a single question, Blackwater's thugs show up and start shooting.
Max is grateful for Lucas' help in escaping Blackwarer's men, but when he turns right around and kidnaps her she figures it's a case of `out of the frying pan, into the fire.' Max and Lucas distrust each other on sight and they both have plenty of good reasons to lie about their actions and motivations. But with Blackwater's men stalking their every move and passion threatening to erupt between them at any moment, they'll have to learn to trust each other or risk losing everything they hold dear.
No one writes sexy romantic thrillers like Sydney Somers. All of her books, whether they have a paranormal element or are straight up thrillers like Trust Me, are gripping reads. Her heroines are strong and sassy and her heroes are pure alpha males with just a hint of tenderness and that combination, as in the case of Max and Lucas, leads to all kinds of sparks. The plot of Trust Me grabs you from the first pages and the strong writing keeps you hooked until the end. This was a fun read, full of action, humor and passion. I blew through Trust Me during one rainy day off from work and as soon as I was finished I started looking forward to more stories about The Lassiter Group.

Maxine Walker is on the run. She has been framed for a murder she didn't commit, and branded a bad cop, traitor to the system she's fought for. The police, along with a notorious drug and arms dealer, are hunting her. The police want her for murder. Blackwater, the drug and arms dealer wants to kill her. Max only has one objective; to run as far as she can and fast. She cannot stand the thought of watching anyone else she cares about die at the hands of the vicious killer.
Lucas McAllister works for the Lassiter Group, a paramilitary unit outsourced by the U.S. Government, it's his job to find Maxine Walker, the woman who killed his partner. Technically, he was pulled off the case but he can't give up. In a last effort to find Maxine Walker, he takes his vacation time and follows one last lead.
Lucas catches up with Max at the same time Blackwater's people do as well. Now, they are running for their lives. Getting away safely would be a lot easier if he could keep Max from trying to escape. She insists she didn't kill his partner and the more he's around her, he actually starts to believe her. Lucas wants Max to come back with him and try to find who is behind the murder and her framing, but she is too scared. Can Lucas convince Max to Trust him before its too late? Or will the bad guys catch up too them first?
Trust Me is like a high speed chase, it gets the adrenaline pumping from page one and doesn't let up until you cross the finish line. Max is a crafty, strong, stubborn woman. I just love her! Lucas poor thing doesn't have a chance; Max seems to always be one step ahead. When these two are together, it is hot. The dialog between them is wonderful. The quick back and forth banter was a riot. Lucas and Max are sexy, charming, intelligent, fighters you can't help but love them. Trust Me is a stirring romance laced with an excellent plot.

This book was so amazing. As other reviewers have already recapped the book; I will just tell my opinion. I don't believe anybody can go wrong with a Sydney Somers book! This was has romance, mystery, murder, betrayal, good guys vs bad guys. This book is fast paced, page turner! I couldn't put it down! The characters were great and Sydney keeps you very entertained!
